A metro film for the Moscow Transport Museum
In September 2026 the Transport Museum opened in Moscow. Together with the Artman agency we made an atmospheric 2D collage film about the Moscow metro for it.
The film plays on a large wall at the museum exit. It is the last thing visitors see after two floors of vehicles, models and simulators.

The museum is housed in Konstantin Melnikov's restored garage on Novoryazanskaya Street. For almost a hundred years the late-1920s building served the city as a depot and parking garage.
The exhibition occupies two floors and 13 thematic zones: the history of urban transport from 19th-century horse trams to the present day. It holds 53 original vehicles, more than 220 models, 500 artefacts and 27 simulators. A new floor dedicated to the history of the metro has appeared beneath the building.
We wanted the museum's finale to be about people, not machines. The film is made up of short personal stories from passengers.
Someone runs out of the last door of the last carriage at Paveletskaya. Someone has loved the smell of the metro since childhood. Someone, every time they pass Kropotkinskaya, thinks about the palm-shaped columns. And on Babushkinskaya there used to be an old lady with a white cat on her shoulder.

We assembled each story as a collage: photographs, old paper, newspaper cuttings, tape and handwritten captions. A red brushstroke runs through the whole film and links the shots, like a line on the metro map.
The collages were made by hand, then animated and brought together in compositing.

Eras change, the metro changes. Passengers' stories remain. The film can be seen at the Moscow Transport Museum, 27 Novoryazanskaya Street.
